Today has been a pretty crappy day as far as the weather goes, it’s cold, raining and pretty dark. Perfect weather to curl up on the couch watching Bones marathon, eating some Cheetos, snuggled up in my favorite Clemson hoodie.
(Cheetos.. Uh. Did I just say Cheetos? Hahaha)
I had put all of the children down for a nap (yes ALL of them asleep!) and I was goofing around, looking at Facebook and stalking some of my favorite fitness gals on Instagram. After looking at their inspirational posts I decided to throw my clothes on and go to the gym! Rest day.. Nah! 45 minutes later and I’m done.
It must have been divine intervention because while driving back home my jam came on the radio!! Bruno Mars..I love me some Bruno Mars. He just released this new song and it’s perfect workout! Here is the link to the video. (But of course go watch it after you finish reading this, lol.) He is my fave and gets me pumped up.
So find someone who inspires you, take their lead, put on your favorite jam, and get after it. Go move your butt!
Oh a little pro tip for you … if you’re on the treadmill or elliptical and your beat drops, make sure you hold on or you might accidentally fall off. Woops!! 😀 Not like I have any experience or anything….
Would you be shocked if I told you that I do not feel like working out today? In no shape or form do I want to go work out. I turned off my alarms and slept in this morning. I told myself that Id go to my box (aka Crossfit gym) once my hubby gets home but I really want to just.. skip it. I didn’t get any sleep last night. And no, Im not being dramatic, I really got very little-no sleep. The baby (who, at 22 months old, is no longer a baby) did not sleep so I didn’t either. Her internal alarm clock woke her up at least once every hour. It was at 4:30am when I finally had to drag my butt to bed and asked my hubby to go deal with her. I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. Sleep and I use to get along so wonderfully, we were BFFs, but not any longer. Boo!
Ive been in a foul mood all day, trying to talk myself into vegging out. I know Ill be in a worse mood if I do that so Im left with no choice but to put on my gym clothes (which are waiting for me by my front door) once my hubby comes home and go Crossfit anyways. A good sleep schedule is vital for athletes; its commonly known that a pattern lack of sleep contributes to obesity, impairs your body’s ability to repair itself, and can cause you to crave those naughty foods … But whining and complaining about my lack of sleep wont do me any good. I feel fine, considering, so why not go kick some Crossfit butt?! Woot!

Did y’all see the VMAs last night? I sure didn’t. I was in bed at 9 so I could get up at 5 this morning to go to Crossfit!!! Hahaha. Thanks to last night’s VMS performance by Miley Cyrus, today has been dubbed National Squat Day. (Which is funny because I did squats today in my workout!) Miley was a hot mess last night, which isn’t surprising! I youtubed her performance…please learn from my mistake and do not YouTube it! Thats 6 mins of your life that you’ve waisted and you’ll never be able to get back. People mag had it right when they tweeted and said her performance was like what Build-A-Bear workshop looks like in hell!!!!
The thing that stood out about Miley … her bum. Or lack of a bum. Now I’m not usually one to poke fun at how others look. But come on now, this is Miley Cyrus and she’s totally done it to herself! I ❤ squats but Miley must not.
If you want to have a nice round bum, you’ve got to do squats! If not, you’ll have Mileybutt …and that’s just not attractive.
Ok now I’m warning you. If you don’t want to see the Mileybutt, look away… 😛

Woohoo. Another week passes, another weigh in down. I didnt lose any pounds this week, still at 179lbs. But! Thats OK. Im not stressin over it. I did fantastic with my first week in P90X. Today is Week 2 day 3 and Im really sore. When is this soreness suppose to go away?! It feels like Ill never stop hurting. No pain, no gain. Eh? I killed the Kenpo dvd! That felt great and is by far my fav workout. The weight lifting workouts are my least fav because they are kinda boring! But I bet I wont feel that way 2 months from now when my arm muscles are more defined.
Ive had a few people ask me if its as hard as it seems… Its as hard as you make it… I can but very little effort into the workout, fly through it, and finish it with no problem. Or I can work out hard, drip sweat, and feel like Im going to die. I choose the latter. Why spend the time messing around if youre just going to goof off?! You wont see results that way. Im not just doing it to say that I did it, Im doin it because I want a super sexy bod at the end of the 90 days! 😉 I wouldnt recommend doing P90X if you really dont think you will work out every day! Tony Horton is cray! But there is a method behind the madness. If youre skipping work out days you might as well just quit. And I am.not.a.quitter.
Actually, this Saturday Im running in my 2nd race. Its a fun color 5K run. The child and a friend of mine will be going with me. Im really pumped! (Lots of pics to come! Im sure we will look ridic!) Then that afternoon my BFF’s hubby, who is a 2nd degree black belt Kenpo karate instructor, has graciously offered to let me take a class with him. I want to learn how to throw punches and kicks with the proper form. (2nd degree black belt, how kickbutt does that sound!!!) And then the next Saturday, the 23rd Ill be running in another 5K race, that one is super important to me (Ill give details later). So yeah, busy girl! Maybe next Wed Ill have better weight loss success.
The main reason Im not bumbed about the lbs this week is because I have fab news! I tried some of my old clothes on and they so.do.not fit! Like, they are inches too big! I didnt believe it, I was shocked. It started with me trying on my Easter dress from last year because I wanted to see if I needed to buy a new one for this year, or if I could get away with wearing that one. Well yeah, theres no way Ill be able to wear it! And then I tried on my other summer clothes from last year… its all to big! WOOT! unfortunately, the clothes I have that are a smaller size are still too small.. but just by a tad so thats more encouragement for me to keep going. Just Keep Going!

Arnt you happy! 🙂 I know I am. Oh how Ive missed blogging. And oh how you’ve missed lots of fun times! I decided to take a little break during the holidays but now that things have returned back to normal I can dedicate more time into the blogworld. But don’t worry, I did NOT take a break from my veg eating habits! In fact I did quite the opposite.
During the month of December I decided to go vegan! For many different reasons, and some are a little too personal to share with the entire world, but yeah.. I went vegan for the month. I thought I would miss cheese the most. Actually that could not be further from the truth. Once I decided to stop eating it I was totally fine! Went out for Mexican- no cheese! Eating Italian- hold the parm. Making a sandwich- leave the cheese off. Its really not THAT hard considering I was already saying no to so many other animal products. Ive gotten good at saying NO. You’d be surprised at how much you could care less about cheese after going without it. The only time I really missed it was during Christmas dinner, my mom made mac and cheese and I was thiiiis close to grabbing a fork and stuffing.my.face. But I didn’t! That was the only time I craved cheese (Ill make a blog post later about how to deal with cravings and weakness).
Truth be told, I wasn’t 100% successful in trying vegan for the month. I did slip up with chocolate and sushi. I was more like 85 or 90% vegan. Meh. Im definitely going to lean more towards vegan eating but I don’t want to use the label “vegan”. I feel like if I was going to be vegan then I would need to reevaluate so many other things then just my food choices. Theres more to being vegan then just what you put in your mouth; like what you will put on your body, what companies you will support by buying their products, what kind of items you consume… So yeah. Im going “plant base”.

Unfortunately, I have to cut this blog entry short. My children need tending to; the child just broke his glasses and the baby keeps trying to climb into my lap and “type” on the keyboard (as in, bangs her little fingers on the keys). Tomorrow Ill post about how my working out is going!! Im most excited about this! WOOHOO! And Ive got some big workout news!
And btw, after taking 2 months off from my Wednesday Weigh Ins, I cant remember where I left off. AhHaha! I was counting from the weight I was at when I started my vegetarian diet and I cant remember that number either. Blah! To make it easier on myself, Im just going to start the weight loss count from my highest weight, when I delivered the baby. 😛 Im thiiiis close to being back to my prebaby weight. When I get there Im going to post pics and all my stats!!! Yikes! That’s right, youll know my numbers! So, stay tuned. Cuz Im sure that blog will be …fun…

How many of y’all set New Years resolutions? How have your resolutions gone? Kept them? Broke them after a week?! Lol. Mine have gone wonderfully… because I didn’t make any! 😛 Hahaha. But for this ‘New Me’ I think it’s about time. I did have weight loss goals but I kinda slacked off. I make them before I became a veg. So I’ll update to fit in with my new life. Along with weight I also want to add in a few other general goals. Not only do I want to get healthy and look über hot with my new bod, 😉 I also want to be well rounded in all areas of my life. Neglecting duties in other areas won’t make me ‘healthy’, it’ll just make me a skinner person who’s priorities are out of whack.

So my goals:
Weight loss. I’m going to do Weigh-in-Weds. Self explanatory, every Wed I’m going to log my weight loss. I don’t feel comfortable logging that info here…not yet… But I’ll tell how many pounds I’ve lost (hopefully lost and not gained). My goal is to lose the rest of the baby weight before Christmas. When I lose the next 10 lbs I’m going to buy a Pandora charm that represents my son. When I lose the rest of my baby weight I’m going to buy a charm that reps my daughter. I’ll revisit my next goals at the end of the year. I know I’m DEFIANTLY going to add a spa day in there. Massage. Facial. Ooooh YES!!
Jesus!! 🙂 even though I’ve listed this ‘goal’ second… It’s really my primary focus. We use to go to church all of the time but since Bethany has been born we haven’t gone as much. She doesn’t sleep at night very well and it’s hard to wake up in the mornings. In stead we just watch the services online, which is *OK* but you cant connect or serve others. Even if it means showing up late, lookin like a hot.mess. going to church is so much better then not going. I’m also starting 2 bible studies. Daily bible reading and being active in the bible studies!! In the past I’ve found that these are best accomplished when you have someone to hold you accountable. One of my BFFs (Julie) will be my partner.
Exercise. I have never been big into exercising. You know, start something and quit, thats me! Going to the gym lasted for a little but I felt ridic, I had no idea what I was doing. It gets frustrating. Not working out is a nasty habit that I’ve never been able to break. ‘They’ say that to learn a new habit you have to do it for a month straight. Soooo… Bleh… Work out for a month straight. Noooot exactly looking forward to this goal. 30 mins a day. I plan to start by going on walks with Bethany. Add yoga 2 days a week. And I’ve thrown the idea around of starting karate. My girl, Julie, is also going to help me stick to it! Exercise will be the hardest.
Those are the 3 major things. There are a few smaller goals I have but I dont want to bore you with details. Cleaning. Drinking Water. Making dinner and only going out to eat once a week. I’m sure the husband would love for me to add ‘stop spending money’ and ‘stop spending so much time on my iPad’ but…. a girls got to have fun sometime!!! 😀 Riight?!
Are you excited?! Cuz I know I sure am!! Woot. New Blog, New Me. Btw, so far I’ve lost 10 pounds. This morning I worked out for 40 mins (had to work off my Starbucks breakfast.. Naughty!). I also read my bible. I read before I really started my day which I think is the perfect time for me because then I have the whole day to meditate on what I read.
